THE PARKINSON’S PREVENTION COMMITTEE (PPC) former Pesticides & Parkinson’s Committee
We are a small group of individuals who either have Parkinson’s Disease, or are the caregiver for a loved one who does.
Our broad purpose is to reduce the risk of others developing Parkinson’s through education and awareness campaigns
To accomplish that objective we have adhered to two basic principles: that we be non-partisan and promote this singularly as health issue.
OUR DEDICATED TEAM (the committee welcomes anybody wanting to participate according to their time and ability.)
With the help of Representative (R) Terry McMillan, the PPC was successful (68-0) in a bipartisan way, to push House Memorial 42 through the 2013 legislature.

* (discontinued) A few pesticides have been banned but remain active due to their long half lives which are still impacting our environment and our health today.
Paraquat is widely used in Dona Ana County (pecans, chile, alfalfa, etc.) as well as ziram and maneb. Exposure to the combination of paraquat & ziram raises the risk of PD by 80% while exposure to the combination of paraquat, ziram and maneb has a threefold risk.(UCLA study)
